On the 80th anniversary of VE Day – Victory Day in Europe – the Victoria Shopping Centre in Harrogate was illuminated by an immersive architectural projection to celebrate the end of World War II in Europe on May 8, 1945.
The project, by LITE UK, transformed the building’s facade into a large flag of the United Kingdom, incorporating commemorative graphic elements such as the words “VE DAY 80.” A visual tribute designed to recall the historical significance of the day and honor the sacrifice of those who contributed to the achievement of peace.
Goboservice collaborated in the implementation by taking care of the mapping of the complex surfaces to arrive at content generation and production of the full color gobos. Two Divum 50K high-power projectors were used for the project.
The experience and expertise of the business sectors involved made it possible to achieve a sharp projection, perfectly adapted to the architecture of the building, and clearly visible even in the presence of ambient lighting.
LITE said:
“We join the nation in honoring and remembering the brave people who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom. This occasion is not only a celebration of victory, but a solemn tribute to those who made it possible.”
A project that puts technology and innovation at the service of collective memory. The collaboration between LITE and Goboservice shaped a shared history through light.
