Alba is a 12.5-meter-tall “steel girl” gracefully resting on the circular fountain in Michele Ferrero Square in the town of the same name in the province of Cuneo. The artwork was created by master Valerio Berruti and donated by the Ferrero family to the City of Alba in 2022. Since then it has become an integral, not to say identifiable part of the urban context.

Recently, the bronzed stainless steel sculpture has a new lighting that makes it shinier and more striking. To illuminate the work, light mapping with white light was carried out using two Goboservice projectors model Divum 50K, installed by our technical partner P.L.S. Electrical Plant by Pier Luigi Scaglia. The projectors, chosen for their power, reliability and ability to operate in complex outdoor environments, ensured a uniform and effective light output, enhancing the lines and volume of the sculpture without chromatic interference. The mapped projection transformed the work into a focal point of the square even in the evening hours, offering a new aesthetic reading of the urban intervention through the use of white light alone, in full compliance with the minimalist poetics of Berruti’s work.

The new lighting was turned on at the opening of the exhibition “More than kids,” the solo show of Valerio Berruti, curated by Nicolas Ballario and Arturo Galansino, at Ferrero Foundation in Alba from April 4 to July 4, 2025.

Particularly pleased Roberto Cavallo (alderman for ecological transition, agriculture, commerce and productive activities) who pointed out, “installations, especially artistic ones, monuments, landscapes take on a relevance, a greater attraction when they receive the right light; who among us has not fallen in love with a sunset or gained energy in contemplating the rising sun? With these thoughts, we worked to make Valerio Berruti’s work, even more beautiful, even at night, and as always, the best results are achieved with teamwork!

On the one hand the administration of the city of Alba, starting with the mayor Alberto Gatto, on the other hand those who believed in the project by supporting it financially i.e. Banca d’Alba and Associazione Commercianti Albesi, and on the other hand those who know about light, such as Goboservice with the valuable support of the municipal offices.

Today Alba, which is also the name of the monumental work, is even more beautiful and attractive!”
