Orvieto celebrated Saint Patrick’s Day joining the Tourism Ireland’s Global Greening initiative, at its 9th edition. Together with Saint Patrick’s Well, another popular monument of the town was illuminated with the Irish shamrock thanks to Grandi Proiezioni, the company specialised in conception, planning and implementation of luminous scenography, distributor for Goboservice projectors in Tuscany.
From the 47 meters of height of the Tower, built in 1300, the Goboservice projectors illuminated with the Irish symbol one of the most beautiful views in Italy to celebrate the patron saint of the Emerald Isle. On this background, made more suggestive thanks to the wise usage of light, the Orvieto Municipality organized many musical and artistic events with the sponsorship of the Irish Embassy.
Inside the Saint Patrick’s Well took place the celtic harp concert “Metamorphose” by Vincenzo Zitello. The concert preceded the Global Greening show, when the famous landmarks of Orvieto turned green together with hundreds of monuments all over the world. The event involved the whole town in an festive atmosphere, with dozens of young people drinking beer and making selfies with the superb medieval hamlet in the background, cloaked in the magic green light. The event was very appreciated from residents and tourists, the further proof of the efficacy on Goboprojections in important artistic contests where monuments’ finesse and fragility require appropriated choices.
