Our metal gobos are made of steel or aluminium; the latter is mainly used for big size gobos, such as A or B size. Thanks to its high thermal resistance, aluminium makes gobos less prone to heat distortion. 

BLACK & WHITE

B&W

Black & white glass gobos are produced by laser etching the artwork on a single glass filter provided on one side with a metal coating, it guarantees high temperature resistance and a total light blockage allowing a sharp contrast effect and eliminating the unwanted halo effect. This gobo type is suitable for reproducing even very finely detailed artworks but without halftones or gradients.

GREYSCALE

GREYSCALE

Greyscale glass gobos can reproduce greyscale fine artworks and photographic quality images in resolution up to 5000 dpi.

ONE COLOR

ONE COLOR

One color gobos are produced by overlapping to the first black filter a colored one. It is rarely used because it is possible to obtain the same effect with the cheaper bw gobo giving it color by using the moving head color wheel. Therefore, it is used only when a particular color tone is required or when the owned projector is not equipped with a color wheel.

TWO COLOR

Two color gobos are produced by overlapping to the first black filter one or two dichroic color  filters. White is counted as a color. For example, if the word “LIVE”in the gobo on the left was white, it would be a two color gobo too.

THREE COLOR

THREE COLOR

Three color gobos are made by overlapping to the first black filter two or three dichroic color filters. White is counted as a color. For example, if the number “3”in the gobo on the left was white, it would be a three color gobo too.

FULL COLOR

FULL COLOR

Full color gobos can reproduce artworks with more than three colors, pictures, photos, commercial art images. They are produced through the CMYK process at a resolution of up to 5000 dpi.


No more unwanted halos and reflections

One of glass gobos limits can be the formation of unwanted reflections producing doubled images and halos in projection. Over the yaers, Goboservice selected the coating types able to tottaly eliminate these imperfections. 
The two most used coatings are:

  • Matte Gray, with a grey side. Used in black and white gobos, it diffuses the undesired glares of light improving the quality of projection.

  • Glossy Dark, with a black side. Used in colored gobos, it absorbs the undesired glares of light.

About gobo production

Glass gobos are manufactured with high-quality materials able to withstand the heat and the UV radiations generated inside projectors and moving heads. The glass is provided on one side with a coating, a very thin film that can be made of aluminium, silicon or titanium. It is the coating which impart glass the different colors and which is laser-etched to obtain the different artworks on gobos.

Goboservice has been producing gobos by laser etching for more than 10 years and has become one of the biggest world experts in this technique.
